The Classic Jonathan has a New (iPhone) Toy Post

Filed under: Hardware, Life Upgrades, Work Related — Mr Windle @ 02:03

As the title describes I have an iPhone 3G now and in the tradition of getting a new device that can update wordpress, this post is being written on that device.

Many of you may be thinking “Jonathan + iPhone = WTF?” and trust me I’m with you here but let me start from the beginning.

On 2008-04-04 I left Photo & Sound Saving and began a search for a new job. At the time I thought I would be starting a new career at The City Of Bothell but it was not to be. Instead I was beat out by yet another idiot with a degree which is funny considering where I ended up. 2008-06-30 I was hired on at Bellevue Community College as a Network Admin.

So back to the iPhone. AT&T offers state employees a 15% discount on their monthly bills. It’s like w00t where do I sign up. The catch being a have to sign a new two year contract. Thus in renewing my contract I got an iPhone.

Here are the likes and dislikes so far.

Likes:
Capacitive Touchscreen
Makes E-Mail useful and fun again
No more worrying about finding open WiFi for Internet
Interface very fast to navigate

Dislikes:
NO T9 Input Interface!
Lack to copy and paste
Not enough key applications for free in App Store. SSH Client just to name one
Not a true multi-tasking OS.

Bike Walking: Number One American Pass Time

Filed under: BusLog — Mr Windle @ 05:46
Bus Sigh
I think there is something wrong here or maybe this is just a law suit waiting to happen. As interesting a pass time bike walking might be, the average ignorant person walking around the Everett station with headphones on might be a bad idea.

In other news I´m now living in Mill Creek. I ride the bus up to Stanwood for work. So far I have met two people who were making there way home from prison. Yep…

Where are my awesome trains community transit?

Quote of the Day

In reference to sorting through someone’s pictures from their trip to Egypt.

“It’s comforting to know that there are places in the world that I will never wish to visit so that in my new world order there will be places to put people I don’t like.”

I guess this means if you are someone I don’t like get ready for a free one way trip to Egypt. Perhaps a good starting point would be the entire Bush Administration.

What are the odds?

Filed under: Common News, Trips — Mr Windle @ 01:00

As you well may know last year I went to Denmark. While my trip was wonderful Danes turned out to be much like Seattleites and very shy so I didn’t end up meeting very many people. Out of these few people I managed to stay in contact with one of them named Louise.
So as I’m talking to Louise this evening she starts telling me about her new boyfriend named Carl. I ask her for a picture and she sends me this.

Carl - The Fona Guy

Not only do I recognize this guy but he is the Fona (An electronics store kinda like BestBuy) guy! In Fona they will let you open any CD on the rack and let you listen to it before you buy. This guy must have spent a hour with me letting me listen to Danish artists. He also sold me Depeche Mode concert tickets.

So a girl I met in Denmark and still talk to is now dating a guy I met in Denmark. While Denmark is a small country the probability of this happening is mind blowing.

Thieves in the Dark

Filed under: Common News, Society — Mr Windle @ 09:41

Tonight my car got broken into while I was at work. Driving home in the cold rain with my passenger and rear window busted in I had this sense of numbness. I’m still not sure how I should feel about these events.

I have never really been a pro-materialist. I know my lifestyle seems to contradict that being filled with high tech gadgets and all sorts of expensive material possessions. In the end it’s all just stuff. We come into this world owning nothing and we leave this world if we are lucky owning nothing but a memory.

I would post a picture of my smashed in car but my Canon Powershot S60 was among the stolen items along with my 12″ Apple Powerbook G4. I guess the thieves were not interested in role playing because they left my D&D PHB and Monster Manual. Thankfully they were also not audiophiles leaving my Grado Labs SR 125’s well alone.

I’m kind of irritated that they stole my sweatshirt and an extra set of jeans I had in my car. I can’t help but think how much I hate going clothes shopping. I think at this point the idea of buying another set of pants is almost more painful then coming up with the money for a new laptop.

At this time of loss I keep going though ways that it could have been prevented. The truth is I live in my car and all my stuff is in my car. It was bound to happen someday it just so happened on a day I had more in my car then less. I also have this need to place blame on something. It’s really silly. Oddly enough the first thing I found that I wanted to blame was Christmas, followed by George Bush, and then Wal-Mart. I think I want to blame these things because I feel that they have some sort of personal vendetta against me or my character. The thieves just simply want money and this is the way society has trained them to get it, nothing personal about it.

In the year 2006

I haven’t posted anything since new years and this is starting to annoy me. I often blame work for eating my creative soul but it’s more likely that I’m just lazy.
