New Storage Installed and Functional
This week I purchased a new harddrive for my overly outdated server. Seeing how the windleverse decentralized community storage system was not catching on in the real world I figured it was high time I took my storage problems into my own hands. The computer is old and SATA-II was the goal so a Promise SATA300 TX4 (linux support) was added. The harddive manufacture I decided to go with was Hitachi, despite their recent silly ad campaign. I guess I have a softspot for them because they took over the IBM harddrive line. So far it has been kicking ass and the 25GB of data that used to reside on the 30GB IBM is now on the 250GB Hitachi.
With the new harddrive I also have decided to go ahead and give reiser4 a try. Although I truthfully haven’t noticed any real proformance increases because of reiser4 I plan on heavily testing the atomic filesystem features during these winter months of poweroutages.
Of course if either Hitachi or Reiser4 fail you will probably hear me screaming about it here in the windleverse.
