New Storage Installed and Functional

Filed under: Hardware — Mr Windle @ 06:14

This week I purchased a new harddrive for my overly outdated server. Seeing how the windleverse decentralized community storage system was not catching on in the real world I figured it was high time I took my storage problems into my own hands. The computer is old and SATA-II was the goal so a Promise SATA300 TX4 (linux support) was added. The harddive manufacture I decided to go with was Hitachi, despite their recent silly ad campaign. I guess I have a softspot for them because they took over the IBM harddrive line. So far it has been kicking ass and the 25GB of data that used to reside on the 30GB IBM is now on the 250GB Hitachi.

With the new harddrive I also have decided to go ahead and give reiser4 a try. Although I truthfully haven’t noticed any real proformance increases because of reiser4 I plan on heavily testing the atomic filesystem features during these winter months of poweroutages.

Of course if either Hitachi or Reiser4 fail you will probably hear me screaming about it here in the windleverse.

Wordpress Themes Don’t Make Any Sense

Filed under: Internet Software — Mr Windle @ 06:38

Well here it is the mighty Windleverse blog in all it’s glory. It would have been here sooner except for the fact that blogers seem to like these horrible themes that don’t make any sense. In the Windleverse this webpage would look awesome but seeing how it must exsist in the real universe we will live with what we get. I get this overwhelming feeling that people who make blog themes think that blogs should look like they are printed on paper. Unfortunately they have not discovered the advanges that computer monitors have. One being the resolution setting. Something else that really bugs me is all this white. Monitors emit light smart one, if you make the background white and the text black like paper it’s going to make the monitor blind people with light.

Anyway despite all the problems I had with blog themes I think I found one I can live with for awhile.
